Vienna is a truly picturesque and charming city. It has wonderful cobblestoned streets, amazing architecture and of course the amazing Spanish Riding School with the dancing stallions.
IMO one of the very best times to visit Vienna is in late November or early December when almost every square comes alive with amazing Christmas markets. There are yummy drinks like hot rum orange punch, gluten and hot pina coladas filled with alcohol to warm you from the inside out as the temperate is usually single digit. .The foods are amazing, hot caramelised peanuts, sticky marshmallow cones covered in chocolate, cheesy sausages, banana nutella crepes...........handmade chocolates etc
There are many Christkindlmarkts of varying sizes including at Schonbrunn Palace and Belvedere Palace but one of the largest is in front of the Town Hall or Rathaus. This photo shows just a tiny selection of the beautiful ornaments for sale in one of the hundreds of stalls which sell gifts, hand crafts, souvenirs, Christmas items and of course food and drink. It is a truly magical way to soak up some Christmas spirit.
