Otra vez en Andorra. Esta foto nos muestra la bella iglesia de Sant Joan de Caselles, y es una toma con un punto de vista desde abajo, un poco forzado, para recortar los dos elementos, el ábside y el campanario, contra el cielo.

El WORKSHOP nos muestra el conjunto mirando de norte a sur, para poder ver el magnífico ábside de la iglesia, en contraste con el esbelto y elegante campanario.

Sant Joan de Caselles es uno de los más populares ejemplos de la arquitectura románica andorrana, de finales del S. XII. Se encuentra en el antiguo camino de Canillo (hoy Carretera General 2, en dirección a Francia).
El templo de Caselles presenta una sola nave rectangular con ábside semicircular con ventana de doble derrame, construido con posterioridad a la nave.
En el lado norte de la nave se eleva el campanario de torre de planta cuadrangular, de estilo lombardo. Presenta tres niveles de ventanales, los dos superiores dobles. Actualmente se comunica con el interior del templo mediante un cuerpo rectangular, añadido, puesto que el campanario, en origen, era independiente del resto del templo.
Durante una restauración del templo se encontraron la cabeza y otras piezas de estuco, que pertenecían a una figura de Jesucristo del mural de la Crucifixión que se encuentra en la pared de mediodía de la nave y que permitieron su reconstrucción.
El ábside está actualmente presidido por un retablo de estilo renacentista, obra del llamado Maestro de Canillo, dedicado a la figura de san Juan, patrón de la iglesia de Caselles.

Again in Andorra. This photo shows to us the beautiful church of Sant Joan de Caselles, and it is a taking with a point of view from down, a little forced, in order to trim both elements, the apse and the bell tower, against the sky.

The WORKSHOP shows the set to us watching from north to the south, in order to be able to see the magnificent apse of the church, in contrast to slender and graceful bell tower.

Sant Joan de Caselles is one of the most popular examples of the Andorran romanesque architecture, of end of XIIth Century. It is placed in the old way of Canillo (today Carretera General 2 in the direction of France).
The temple of Caselles presents a single rectangular ship with semicircular apse with window of double spill, constructed after the ship.
In the North side of the ship the bell tower of quadrangular plant rises, of lombard style. It presents three levels of large windows, both superior doubles. At the moment one communicates with the interior of the temple by means of a rectangular body, added, since the bell tower, in origin, he was independent of the rest of the temple.
During a restoration of the temple a stucco head and other pieces were found, that they belonged to a figure of Jesus Christ of the mural of the Crucifixión that is in the noon wall of the ship and that allowed their reconstruction.
The apse at the moment is presided over by an altarpiece of Renaissance style, it builds of the called Masterful of Canillo, dedicated to the figure of San Juan, pattern of the church of Caselles.
