Photographer's Note
This is one of my oldest photograph and certainly my favorite, dating from 1992.
This little girl is probably close to 25 years old now... How time passes.
At the time I was using a Nikonos IV, designed for under water photography. You had to focus manually, and choose your aperture. The camera would decide on the shutter speed accordingly.
I was sitting next to this little wooden shack, with a friend and saw the little girl with the corner of my eye. I evaluated my distance to be around 7 feet (a bit over 2 meters) chose probably f8 for good sharpness, quickly composed and fired.
I remember having butterflies in my stomach and was very anxious to have the Kodak film developed. I was hooked on photography...
Ironically this was my only waterproof camera (never used it under water) and the only one to fail due to corrosion, in more than 20 years sailing...

Hello Michel,
This girl has such a classic beauty, and there is so much local flavor in this photo. I love the way she casually has her small hand on the pot, and her traditional-looking clothes. All of the warm colors compliment each other nicely. It is really lovely.

Hi Michel,
This is really a beautiful composition with the small pot which immediately creates a story with the expression of the little girl.
Lovely picture.

Your photo definitely deserve more points!!
This is easily become one of your best photo! Your hard work with your camera should highly appreciated with this result. The girl is stunned but looks like she couldn't be bother by you taking picture of her. Everything about the color in this picture is stunning. The background gave us more solid black color of her hair, the green pot, her clothes... and the focus all over. Great choice of vertical framing cause we want to see more of her.
This is a very stunning and attractive photo Michel, I wish one day I can take picture like this :-)
Warm Regards
Artesia
