Hello Kari,
I had to research the tanager family, and what a fantastic clan of birds they are! This blue-gray one seems by far the most discreet member of the family, but still very beautiful. The shade provided by the many leaves left it in a pleasantly soft light, which you handled well in a nice exposure.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hello Kari, I am unsure as to how far away you were from this beautiful bird, but the sharp focusing shows us all the details that we need. I like the slightly out of focus background.
It’s always special when you capture the catchlight in the eyes.
Well done.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Kari,
Excellent close up of this beautiful bird with its blue wings.
Good composition with the many green leaves on the background.
It likes to eat fruit.
You can see from the beak that it just had a good snack.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Kari
when visiting this country, you're bound to return home with a few bird photos - or at least I think you would. and yes its my first time seeing this one, not having any here in Canada.
pretty pale blue feathers, and its a nice shot with it burried inside all the green leaves, protected from the sun. Good one. Stay safe! cheers

I live in southern brazil and this bird is very usual here, from my office I can see them around, eating fruits in the persimmon tree. in my gallery you will be able to see lots of them. a nice flagrant of it with the leaves ahead. its metallic blue-green hues are ever special to be seen.
take care
jorge
