Photographer's Note

They're not fashion models on catwalk...

These are Black Hmong women market vendors, taken at a vibrant Sapa market. They were having a short break or perhaps discussing sales tactics, without them noticing to what I was doing. What caught attentions is so obvious, how they would dazzle you with their traditional signature indigo-dyed dress, silver earrings, colourful headdress and handbags to complete the attire.

This market place is a little gem for photo shoot and comes to life daily when troupe of these hill tribe people come to trade. It's also a place for them to mingle around, chatting away old grandma story, meeting friends and family as well as selling some of their own farm produce and souvenirs.

A former French hill station. Sapa is a scenic cool town located at 1500m elevation in the mountainous region of north west Vietnam; nestled amongst Hoang Lien Son Mountains near the Chinese border. A great
place as a retreat from the soaring summer temperatures of Hanoi.

A true delight for the eyes to say the least whilst recognising the hard conditions that these people live under.
