nice the snapshot with the native to lean on the old and abandon cannon looking at your lens with this way.As i see there is and a tank near it.Informative the WS as we can see the position of the old 155mm cannon.

inmnanzitutto complimenti per i tuoi 40000 punti, tutti ampiamente meritati per come hai saputo farci conoscere i luoghi più sperduti e lontani nel mondo con le tue foto senza tempo.
Quanto alla foto, se non avessi letto le tue note, avrei pensato, senza ombra di dubbio che il soggetto si era messo in posa per farsi riprendere da te.
Ottima la composizione, molto significato il soggetto che è una sintesi della situazione vietnamita, tra guerra e pace, almeno al momento nel quale hai avuto occasione di essere sul posto.
Buona la scannerizzazione.

I'm so glad you took this shot from this perspective and NOT straight on...in that compo you wouldn't have the long perspective of the barrel as you do here.
This was clearly the best way to go.

look how large those shells are! man oh man...scary stuff.

love the guys hat too!

Hello Gert,
he looks bored and lonely in the workshop picture and your interest in taking his photo was a pleasant distraction. The horrible weapons and the ammunition store have become calm and cozy places for the local people to hang out. It's ironic but a scene that has reoccurred thousands of times around the world. There are interesting details for the viewer who gets the chance to explore this site. The smile is great, it contrasts effectively the mood defined by the details, the subdued colours and the memories of the war. I like the workshop picture with more people too. Congratulations and thank you!

Wow! That's a big gun! I can just imagine what the sound like when it fires a round. I guess there are still several weapons leftover from the war in that country as evidence in this photo with a tank and a cannon. But I'm glad this man is smiling at you. Nicely captured and good scanning. Well done, tfs.

Hello Gert,

A splendid pair of photographs here demonstrating this fellow's very relaxed view of his work. He should be out with his cutting torch, chopping up this huge artillery barrel to sell for scrap, though perhaps metal prices were not so high in Vietnam 20 years ago as they are here now.

And your main picture is a fine portrait of this chap, smiling at you while he hangs across the remains of this fearsome weapon with not a care in the world. Lovely light and colours and exceptional details and a very good quality scan too.

Snyggt foto från en intressant miljö med ruskig historia. Jag var nog en mer "vanlig" turist när jag var i landet och såg därför inte dessa miljöer. Vet du varför kanoner och sånt står kvar 20 år efter i kriget? Man skulle ju kunna tro att ska användas igen om det blir krig, eller kanske ingen vet var man ska göra av dem. Bra bild iallafall med bra djup med hjälp av kanonröret. Ett kanonkort helt enkelt ehh...
