Photographer's Note
I ran out of battery for my brother's Nikon D100. I quickly took my Nikon Coolpix 4500 to record this shot.
He is one of the H'mong boys. Unconsciously or consciously, I had been observing him since he was in the church. He was not one of them. He was always alone yet he had that wise look that spoke so much of what's inside his soul.
While going around the village, I noticed him again looking out from the green door of his house. Despite his quiet stance, his gaze speaks volume. We could see children like thi everywhere. We need to notice them more and talk to them more.
Auto-adjustments, unsharp masking.

WOW! Absolutely stunning photo. The framing of the boy is just perfect. I also like the subtle colors and the somewhat natural framing of the image on the left. His eyes are really powerful.
My only small comment would be that the metal object on the doorframe (I presume it's a door) disturbs the composition somewhat.
Anyway, small thing, overall amazing work.

yes, it is a nice picture, very natural portrait, the boy gave you a great, maybe a bit curious look. i like colors in this picture. the picture is really rough - old walls, dirty shirt, dirty face, it is a very natural stuff, good.

Your portraits of children seem to get better and better. I like how in this one the boy`s face is partly in shadow. You have really given this shot a perfect title.

He is a sweet boy, Manny. I love his expression and mostly his eyes. The background colors are just perfect. I couldn't resist doing a workshop with him -- I hope you don't mind. Like the last one, it's not meant as an improvement, just a different view. I wanted to see how he looked with a closer crop.

Wonderful capture of the kids expression. The use of the wall as a framing is very nice.
Well done!

great shot manny? maybe a little off center would be even better with a slight crop from the right side ? what do you think? the door frame in green and the wood match perfectly xith oyur subject... he looks both intimidated and curious with you here... nice shot
PS : I just checked the ws... I think your cropping works better.oups!;-))

Wow! This is good work Manuel. As usual it got your fingerprints all over it. Technically very well executed, and the strong ethical and confronting motive... Just stunning, and that also counts for the speed you probably operate with ;-)

This picture goes straight to your heart. He has such a sad expression that it really hurts. Once again, a wonderful pic from you!

Dear Manuel, very nice portrait, very well exposed from his dark hair and eyes to the light right side of his face. For me the boy is too centered, but I think this is personal taste here. I agree the metal thing is disturbing a little. Yours, Jan

I also did a workshop but couldn't post it fast enough as I was over my limit there. I still post it now though :)

Cher Manuel,
Votre galerie de portraits est inιpuisable. Je ne m'en plains pas, bien au contraire. A chaque fois, vous avez su exprimer ΰ travers le portrait une partie de l'βme du sujet et en cela, c'est trθs beau.
Merci encore Manuel.
Dear Manuel, Your gallery of portraits is inexhaustible. I of lime pits not, quite to the contrary. With each time, you knew to express through the portrait a part of the heart of the subject and in that, it is very beautiful. Thank you still Manuel.

Excellent work again, Manny. For me, the centered position of the boy actually works well - I don't think every composition needs to be off-centered just for the sake of it, particularly when the subject is so compelling as in this case. The light is very well handled, illuminating the boy's face with varying intensity, and I very much like his look that seems to show openness and curiosity. Well captured in simple surroundings. As so often, your considerate note sets a beautiful stage for your picture. Congratulations.

A very good portrait, the background colours really don't get in the way at all, and the exposure and colour of the boy are very good. The detail of the eye is great. Very good shot.

A very effective directon of light, Manuel. I like the way the face are half dark, and the light is very good on the wooden door. expression is great. very well captured as usual.

Very nice shot Manny. Maybe I am biased, because it reminds me of the two photos I have uploaded of the boy behind the fence in Sagada. Very piercing gaze he has for certain. Why does it appear he was wearing mask around his eyes? Was that the result of him being in the sun wearing goggles or something? or perhaps something happened in processing?

Your fine soul has spotted another fine soul Manny! Yes, his look speaks so much...His posture as staying slightly behind the door emphasizes the strong message your picture emanates. Excellent!

That bright green door distracts attention, though cropping it would ruin composition, so I think B&W version will be most appropriate.
Otherwise, great.
