Photographer's Note
These fishermen are not Thai at all, but in fact almost entirely from Cambodia or Khmer! And as such are in many ways a sub-culture; living on the boats, making daily trips out to sea, and in some cases going for out for as long as 13 days one boat owner told me. The way they dress can vary, but certainly what we see here, or at least the pants, are actually quite common among these fishermen. The hats are an individual choice, but again often something sort of interesting like this one. The mismatched boots........well what can I say.... a faux pas. Hello Steve,
He is certainly an interesting character, althoug he becomes more "normal" in the other pictures. The background is slightly confusing but quite attractive with all those orange lines against light blue.
I guess the Thai and Cambodian waters are not entirely free from real pirates, actually.

very interesting and striking composition. The darker hues of his boots really set him firm inside the vertical frame, and the orange metalwork has been perspicaciously set as a counterpoint to his own limbs.
Indeed, Pirate of the Samaeans, if not the Caribbeans, and from a photographer of the canadeans!

Hi Steve!
Very nice composition. Perfect depth of the shot (very attractive blurred background). Amazing sharpness of details on first plan (pirate of Thailand). Amazing light control and moody colors. Fantastic play between lines of the ship and its colors. Canon EOS 5 D Mark II is realy fine (but first - you!)

Great pictures of south east asia. Sharp colours and very precise details. I really like the way you shoot. Hopfully I will be able to do as well in a while and with a better camera.
