A view of Ao Thian Og beach
Koh Tao (Turtle Island) is a small island in the Gulf of Thailand. The dive sites around Koh Tao are among the best in Thailand and consequently the island is very popular with divers (50+ dive companies). The island has seen an incredible development in the last 20 years or so. The comparison between photos taken in the early 90s and the current reality is just astonishing. Still no multi-storey resort, but bungalows nearly everywhere. Not too much problem with that when they mix well with the surrounding environment, but don’t like those hanged on hillside when they break the natural skyline.
The beach on the photo is in Ao Thian Og (Shark Bay), located in the south of the island. My old zoom that should have been shelved a long time ago has done not too bad for this one. Perhaps because used at minimum focal length. It’s not always the case. Here in the NE of North America, the coming week-end is Labour Day week-end. Symbolically, it marks the end of summer, or at least summery activities. In a few months, we will be thousands dreaming about a week or two in a place like this.

Hi Claude.
Looking through your gallery gives me a lot of good pictures from all over the world, really suiting TE's motto. And even some from Norway (The norwegian titles surprised me)! Anyway, this one is also very good. The POV makes the beach a nice diagonal through the picture, and it's nice that there were a few people. The crystal clear water is pleasant to watch and that rock just seems very strange, but suits the picture perfect. Great light management. TFS.
Best regards, Fredrik

Lovely beach, Claude. I wouldn't mind taking a plunge in its turquoise waters and relaxing in a chalet under these gorgeous palm trees. South-east Asia's nature is simply stunning.
Cheers,

Hello Claude, the beach across the diagonals works very well giving the image nice depth, the people on the beach are well defined so the lens is still OK!
Very pleasing holiday shot.

Hi Claude
I remember Thailand very well.
the composition here is excellent.
the 3 layers are very pleasing to the eye, the string of sand, string of lush greenery, and the aqua water...very sweet indeed.
nice work.
