‘Erawan National Park - Crystal clear pools and waterfalls’

Back to Kanchanaburi province in western Thailand.
This time no abundance of colours in temples but the calm colours of nature in Erawan National Park.

The park is the green highlight of Kanchanaburi province and the most famous place in it is Erawan Waterfall.
You will not immediately find spectacular high waterfalls, but via a walking path you reach seven different levels, each with waterfalls and pools in which you can and are allowed to swim.
The water has a beautiful colour and there lives lot of fish in the pools.

Important to know:
Erawan is VERY BUSY with Western and Asian tourists!
If you like to take pictures of nature and not of pools full of tourists, go early to Erawan and climb as soon as possible to the highest levels.
Many visitors immediately take a dip in the water and never get to the higher levels in time before their bus leaves for Kanchanaburi town. The higher you go, the fewer people. You should wear sturdy shoes for the higher levels and avoid the weekend when there are many locals.
The walking path is very easy up to the third level. After that it gets more difficult and you need a lot of time to get to the seventh level.

Of course there’s more water in the rainy season.
I was there at the beginning of December (dry season) and still thought the visit was a very nice trip.
