Yes, it's another Monkey shot! I'm not sure why I keep on posting them, maybe it's their human like expressions and actions, maybe their just photogenic... all I know is I'm enjoying them. Anyways- enough 'monkeying around'...

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Baboons which stems back about 31 years ago when I was just a toddler and we were living in South Africa. As I was quite young at the time- most of my story is what I have been told by my mother...

One lazy weekend, my parents had decided to strap me into my car seat and take drive through South Africa's famous Kruger National Park to see if we could spot any 'wildlife'. As a driver you're warned of all the possible dangers and what to look out for. In particular how you should take caution in having your windows open around any wildlife, even the baboons. Baboons (like any animal) will do almost anything for food, even prying your car windows down if he can get his fingers in there.
I must have found the overall experience quite interesting as I was sound asleep in the backseat for most of it. My dad had stopped the car as we couldn't proceed until the troop of baboons moved off the road. I guess they're not stupid and figured at some point someone is going to be coming down this road and they'd just sit there until they got some food out of it. Well, we weren't opening the windows let alone giving them any food- so some of them decided to hang around on the hood of our car!

As one angry male peers through the front windshield at me- I decided that would be a good time to wake up and open my eyes. Scaring the hell out of me, I screamed for some period of time before my mother could settle me back down. But the memories of those baboons lived on even when we moved back to Canada, as I'd often ask my mom for reassurance that there weren't any baboons living in the forest at the back of our house. She'd tell me there were no baboons in Canada and I had nothing to be worried about... but she never told me about the bears! ;-)
