Photographer's Note

Vladimir is one of the most ancient and beautiful cites of Russia. It was founded at the end of the tenth century by Prince Vladimir the Red Sun or, according to another chronicle, by Vladimir Monomachus at the beginning of the twelfth century. In the middle of the twelfth century, under Andrew Bogolliubsky, Vladimir become the center of North-Eastern Russia and later grew into the main city of the entire Russia.

The Bell-tower and the Cathedral of the Dormition in Vladimir look very impressive inside the old part of the city.
The bell-tower is a tiered structure (56 meters high) built in an eclectic style in 1810 (architect A.Vershinsky). Behind the bell-tower you can see the Cathedral of the Dormition which was for a long time the principal church of Ancient Russia. This building started the formation of the distinctly Russian architectural school. Grand Prince Andrei Bogoliubsky began the construction of Vladimir's Cathedral of the Dormition in 1158.

This photo I took with my clients from Intel company at the same time as previous picture at the end of March 2005 (end of last winter) on the way to Suzdal city. Hope you like the composition and this winter scene from Russia too.
