Photographer's Note
This is an island at side of the fort island you saw some days ago. In this island there was a wood hut where Czar Peter, the Great lived during some years while his town was being built in a big swamp.
Here we can see a chapel in FG and ahead the dome and minarets of the mosque. Its aspect was inspired in an old tomb of Tamerlane.
At the end of 19th century the muslim community of the city asked permission to built a place to pray in the city. After donations of money the mosque was inaugurated in 1913, when it was the largest in Europe, off Turkey. This mosque was closed from 1940 to 1956 by soviet government and was opened only because Sukarno, president of Indonesia, asked them to open the building while in a visit.

Essa ι uma vista de uma ilha que fica ao lado da ilha do forte, o mesmo que vocκs viram dias atrαs. Nessa ilha hα uma cabana, originalmente de madeira, onde o Czar Pedro, o Grande, viveu enquanto sua nova cidade era construνda no meio do pβntano.
Vemos aqui uma capela no primeiro plano e atrαs o domo e os minaretes de uma mesquita. O seu estilo foi baseado no da tumba de Tamerlγo.
No final do sιculo 19 a comunidade muηulmana da cidade pediu ao czar que lhes permitisse ter um lugar de culto ali. A mesquita foi inaugurada em 1913 e foi fechada de 1940 atι 1956 pelo governo soviιtico. Curiosamente sσ foi aberta quando Sukarno, o ditador da Indonιsia, visitava a cidade e pediu aos comunistas que reabrissem a mesquita.

Jorge, the chapel golden top with the cross in the fg is juxtaposed with the blue dome and the two minarets. These two religions coexist in the city. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hello Jorge,
We usually see buildings at street level but you have given us a treat and shown us an array of domes and towers, with distinct details of the differences in shapes, materials and textures. The cross and the crescent moon are close together, framed by the minarets.
The clear sky makes a fine backcloth against which to display the buildings.

Hello Jorge,
There is a place close to where I live where it is possible to take photos of a minaret and a church tower together, but the angle is not as good as here. I like the golden and largely blue domes together. There is also a nice contrast between dark green and light blue.

Hello Jorge,
A great photo of these two very different domes of two different religions. The contrast between the smooth golden dome and the elaborately decorated blue dome of the mosque is wonderful. Also the two twin minarets look good and everything is seen in a great, clear sunlight.

This mosque really seems to be very large.
You searched for a good higher viewpoint to make this splendid combination of the church tower and the dome and the minarets of the mosque, all beautifully in a row.

Desconocia la existencia de esta mezquita en San Petersburgo, cuando yo visite la ciudad no la vi.
Se ve esplendida con sus altos minaretes y sobre todo la maravillosa cupula al estilo de Samarcanda.

Hello Jorge, I wanted to go closer to this mosque but finally, I had no time for it. Wonderful fluted dome obviously in the style of the Samarkand mosques. Very interesting composition with the golden dome near to the mosque. Lovely minarets.
A curious note, I didn't know the story about the Sukarno visit.

Hello Jorge, sharp focusing on the architectural features of these places of worship.
The golden dome is placed off centre so that we can appreciate the dome of the mosque; the tiled decoration is very beautiful.

i'd love to see more close up photos of that dome, it looks to be so photogenic. not only for its design, but for its color.
lots of interesting and contrasting styles in this one scene.
I'd like to see a different pov or composition, but that's ok.
