Photographer's Note

This is one of most famous views of Saint Petersburg. This area was conquered by Peter, the Great, in a war against Sweden. He wanted a gateway to the sea and built a fort, in 1703, in one of the islets in the mouth of Neva River, a very swampy area.
Here we can see the Fort of Saint Peter & Saint Paul. In foreground we can see Neva river. In the ramparts you can notice a gate, it was in that point that the prisoners were sent to death or to Siberia during czars times. In the center of the fort there are many interesting buildings and small museums, you can see the shapes of the cathedral with a very long golden needle with an angel in the top. I will show you the angel some days ahead.
That silver building at side of the tower is the highest building in Europe.

Essa ι uma das vistas mais conhecidas de Sγo Petersburgo. Essa regiγo foi conquistada por Pedro, o Grande durante uma guerra contra os suecos. O czar decidiu entγo erguer um forte numa ilhota dessa regiγo pantanosa e dar ΰ Rϊssia um porto marνtimo.
Vemos aqui o Forte de Sγo Pedro e Sγo Paulo, erguido em 1703. No primeiro plano temos o Rio Neva. Nas muralhas do forte vocκs poderγo ver um portal, era ali que os traidores do impιrio eram mandados para a morte ou para a Sibιria nos temps dos czares. No centro do forte existem vαrias construηυes interessantes e pequenos museus. Vemos as formas da catedral se sobressaindo, com sua torre e uma agulha dourada muito alta com um anjo no topo, algo que vou mostrar de perto depois.
Aquele edifνcio prateado que vemos ao lado da torre ι o mais alto edifνcio da Europa.
