Photographer's Note

This is the view on the Palace Square in St. Petersburg as seen from inside the Eremitage. Although the windows were actually not really clean it somehow worked to take a photo through the window. The weather was nice and finally a bit warmer and many people took a stroll on the square on Sunday afternoon. In the summer of course it is flooded with tourists and lots of vendors try to sell all kinds of things, starting from Caviar (out of cartboard boxes and from unknown origin), Russian flags, guided tours to craftswork. The square is also used for a number of events such as military parades, concerts and this year the first open-air cinema festival is said to take place there (although the director of the Eremitage opposes it, I read, due to fear of damages for his buildings...).
