The Taleju Temple is dedicated to the Tantric Goddess "Taleju Bhawani" and is regarded as the family deity of the Kings of Nepal. It is widely believed that the kings of Nepal need the blessing of this goddess to rule the country. The temple is located in Durbar Square (Old Palace in Kathmandu) and stands at the height of 120ft. Built in the 16th century, it is a fine example of pagoda style Nepalese architecture. It is indisputably the most magnificent temple in the durbar square premises.
