Photographer's Note
Boudhanath, just 7 kms from Kathmandu city centre is a fascinating and very spiritual area.
For centuries, Boudhanath has been an important place of pilgrimage and meditation for Tibetan Buddhists & local Nepalis. The Great Stupa of Boudhanath is the focal point of the district. There are at least 29 Tibetan Gompas (Monasteries & Nunneries) around Boudhanath.
Many maroon clad Tibetan Buddhist monks and nuns can be seen walking around Boudhanath, especially at the Stupa. As a daily ritual, many people walk three or more times around the stupa while repeating the mantra 'Om Mani Padme Hum' either quietly or aloud. During the days of & surrounding the full moons, the air is often thick with incense and mantras sung by monks, and the number of people visiting the Stupa increases significantly, along with the intensity of their mantras & prayers.
(Experimented with the colour saturation to have the background in monochrome, to accentuate the colour of the robe)

Hello
An amazing portrait! I like the second face inside the mystic smoke. The red and black suits very well with the photo
Congrats

Hello May - You have handled this shot creatively. I am not a fan of selective colourisation but admit it works well here. The graininess really appeals and I like the way the second face seems to materialise out of the smoke. Very nice work. Warm regards Rosemary

Hi May,
I am never usually a fan of selective colour, but it works here, giving the image depth and distinction. Great moment and scene.
Cheers

Dear May
Your PP works quite nicely, but ideally what I like most is your composition itself, with the smoke creating a fine atmosphere & mood, hiding the second novice in the BG behind this thin veil. Beautifully done! I would have liked to see the original picture in order to appreciate your PP better
Best Regards
Angshu

The capture is great, the post processing I don't like. It just not it.
I was in BoddhiNat on feb 10th so I didn't see you. a day after this pic was taken a Buddhist Tibetan monk burned himself in this complex!!

Hi May,
I usually do not critique photos that have already been critiqued. But I feel that an injustice has been done to this photo by the previous critic. I love the way you have combined B&W with color. I love the post-processing. Now I would have included the top of the head, too, but I see a lot of photographers chopping off people's heads, it must be the new fad. So, that does not bother me; it's still a powerful image. Well done!
Cheers,
MT
