Photographer's Note
The traditional village of Khokaha is still a living museum inside the Kathmandu Valley. It lies just 6 km from Kathmandu and you can feel the difference in modern and traditional life. The lady is preparing to make beaten rice which is quite famous food in Nepal. This kind of food, I have never seen in other countries. Its flat and dry, ovel shaped, 1/4 of finger nail and white in color.

Hello Ravin
Excellent partial desaturation which gives the effect that the colourful woman is in the present and the street scene is from the past. I am enjoying looking at the images you are posting from your homeland which is one of my favourite destinations. I have visited Nepal 3 times. Cheers, Marlene

good scenic "arrangement"...
weak "interpretation" - why selective colouring? why overexposed background?...
a missed opportunity... pitty...

Hi Ravin,
I guess everybody have tried partial B&W one day; me I have tried several times at least and it was fun and I often liked the results. But I feel that many people just think it's sort of heretic and I would not dare to post one on TE. I think it has an interesting result here. The woman seems like copied on an image from the 1930s! And it may have helped to diminish the impact of the overexposed spots (basket, shawl, etc.). Good composition here. What I like less is the shadow in the street (fg) and the man looking away instead of participating in the scene. As suggested above by bantonbuju, I also tend to slightly underexpose relatively to the light reading. But I more rarely shoot in raw, although I recognize the advantages; just a practical question.
Cheers, Claude
