Photographer's Note
Day15
Card 5 photo#151
This is another view of the waterfalls which are surrounded by the chalet-type rooms where we stayed on our last night in Laos. (see here for more information.) We had just eaten lunch and were waiting for the bus to take us to the Thai border. This is the view from our lunch table and it is the last photo I took in Laos. I post it for that reason as the end of my journal, although there might be one or two more Lao photos to come.
Two closer views are in the WS that I had taken earlier

I could just about bear to look at a scene like that over lunch, Kath. Those falls are really lovely, especially viewed through the trees and with the rocks in the foreground. I've really enjoyed this travelogue and learned a lot along the way. It looks like you had a sensational trip.
Well done and thanks for sharing it all.

Hi kath
A very attractive waterfall. I like the repetition & graphism of the darker fg trees. Wonderful sharpness & color. Tfs!

hi i like you pov looking through the trees at the waterfall great dof is that a fence in the background or a bridge to cross the darkness of the rocks in the forground contrast well against the falls

Good morning Kath
I must say I have enjoyed the trip! Your pictures and commentary have given us a good insight into this less, well know country. I like your waterfall pic too, with the rocks in the foreground to give a nice balance to the shot. Nice framing and good contrast. TFS

Thanks for the journal Kath, I've enjoyed the journey with you and feel like I've been there.
It's a nice photo to finish with and does a good job of portraying a beautiful scene. The focus is surprisingly deep considering you were using f6.3.

A great photo with good foreground interest. I like the way we are looking through the trees to see the water. Very nicely done.
Best wishes

Hi Kath, a good image to finish off the travelogue - a nice waterfall viewed through the trees to add some foreground details.
It's been a great travelogue, thoroughly enjoyable! Thanks for sharing it with us. :)

Hi Kath,
The end of a fascinating odyssey. I like the orderly and methodical way you have presented your photos...Here the foreground really is a separate scene unto itself, with the large rocks interspersed with leaves. The spot seems bucolic, with the lines of the horizontal ledges clearly set out in the distance as the spray of water cascades downward. It seems like the sky was a little washed here and so what an excellent idea to concentrate on the foreground. Good work.

Wonderful series of a fantastic trip, Kath. I see that you've posted 65! Laos shots. Once more I especially like the foreground with stones, adding interesting depth. Congratulations! Daniel

This one and the other similar (wich doesn't have bridge) are the best.
Hi Kath.
I like the composition and how the background becomes a very important part of the photo.
Well seen and well done.
Thanks.

I like the interesting pov here with the foreground creating an interesting window for the falls which look well placed in the centre. Both the forground and background have recorded with good exposure and the boring looking sky has been kept to a minimum cleverly.V.nice and different view.Oh and of your other versions I like the 1st workshop entry.

Kath, Great mix of elements. I like the horizontal structures in the waterfall and the round features of the boulders in the foreground. Nice! Ross

Hej Kath,
Thank you for all the picture from Laos. We learned a lot about the country and its people.
You had great view from the lunch table on your last day. A good picture of the water falls, I like the trees and stones in front too. Good work!

Hi Kath,
Three lovely pictures on the end of your trip. I think this one is the most appealing for the trees gives an extra atmosphere to the scene.

Hi Kath
I think I would have been hard-pressed to choose between this one with the better sky and more green in the trees and the one in the workshop with the lovely bridge, the more open view of the falls and the swimmer. On the whole, I think I might have cropped a little more sky and gone for the bridge.

Nice shot Kath;
I like the layered effect of the falls. Looks like some people are making the best of it by going for a dip. Are there pools at these falls, as the water seems too fall from flat slate to flat slate.
Looking at your workshops- I think I prefer 'Altered Image #1' to all the others.
Nice one Kath!

Hi Kath. I think this might be my favorite of your waterfall shots from Laos. I think the wide-angle works very well here. Again a longer shutter speed would be nice but it's still beautiful Kath.

Hi Kath,
I guess you are felling well finishing a project of this quality. Your travelogue was awsome. It gave me a totaly different image I had before of this Country and made me want to visit this place sometime. I think this is what TE is all about. Also, your comments and feelings added tremendous interest in the journey. To finish you present a very nice photo, showing your ability to capture the best angles of every place. Congratulations.

Hi Kath
I think the trees in the FG adds a dimension to the impressive falls. The falls have an appearance of a man made one (of course it's not)with the multiple steps appearing more like a cascade.
So au revoir Laos...I thoght I'll see more of LP shots..but what you've presented here are some aspects at least I didn't see in that magnificient country..So thanks a lot
Regards
Angshu
