Hiroshima Peace Memorial, called Genbaku Dome, the Atomic Bomb Dome, or the A-Bomb Dome by the Japanese is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Hiroshima, Japan.

The A-bomb Dome is the ruins of the former Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall destroyed by the the world's first A-bomb on August 6, 1945.
The atomic bomb was detonated at 8:15 a.m. on August 6, 1945, approximately 150 m southeast of the A-bomb dome at an altitude of about 580 m.

The building sustained major damage, its interior was completely burned and all 30 persons who were in the building at that time died.

In 1967 the dome was declared a symbol that should remind the people of the world of the terrible disaster.
