Photographer's Note
A young boy looks at the lighted diyas as a prelude to Deepavali - the Festilval of Light. Here's wishing everyone at TE, a very happy Deepavali. May all your wishes come true:)
Deepavali has been given the traditional name of Festival of Lights because of the hundreds and thousands of small oil lamps or diyas lighted by Indian households. The burning of these diyas are considered to be the lighted pathway of a person's expression of happiness and also a manner of paying respect to God, the Supreme power for attainment of health, prosperity, knowledge, financial security and peace in one's life. Deepavali is regarded to bring the supernatural joy and brightness in a person's life with the hope of discovering light amidst darkness, achieving happiness in place of ignorance and spreading of love amidst hatred and violence.
PS : I hope to be back more frequently with some images from recent visit to Bhutan:)

Wonderful shot! It's always interesting to see photos taken by candle light, and this captures that special glow that only the candles can bring. The boy's face is also great, really making the shot work. Excellent work!

Excellent light exposure here, you have gotten a great angle on these candles, and the little amount of light showing his face. I love the colours of the candles.

hello Sabyasachi,
happy Dipawali. This is a magical image. The lights look like little cakes covered in a shiny, cooured icing sugar and each one a party cake. There is something special about the boy's intense look too. he is young enough to believe the magic.

Hello Sabyasachi
And many thanks for another prize winner. The light is stunning and the position of the boy in the upper right corner is the best one can imagine. Perhaps you have erased what was around the plate with the candles because I see only black, and the plate seems to be floating. Good job as usual !

Hello Sabyasachi!
So good to revisit your colourful album. This image of the lights of Deepavali has new meaning to me now. I recently visited Kathmandu during this exciting festival. It was wonderful to see so much light and colour and people clearly enjoying the festivities so very much. The fire crackers were quite surprising, sometimes being let off without warning on the street next to me! Your image encompasses in one frame the joy and wonder of this fun festival. The perfect separation between black and light and the illuminated face is spectacular. All the best, I wish that you had a happy Deepavali!
