Rajput men from Rajasthan wear distinctive turbans. There is more than 15 ways to tie a turban and the Jodhpur style, called safa, can remains intact for more than six months...
In some areas, the turban's size and colour may indicate the position and fonction of the person in society.
This little boy was playing around, while his parents were playing music, at the exit of Mehrangarh Fort.

bonjour André,
il est trop mignon ce petit dans son costume traditionel, les teintes de la photo sont magnifiques, entre rouge et marron, ce ne doit pas être évident , tout les matins de mettre ce couvre chef.

Tu sembles avoir beaucoup de gout pour les portraits...c'est sur que devant un petit bonhomme au regard si franc y'a pas à hésiter...et puis ces couleurs!je ne suis pas sur que le turban tienne jusqu'au soir avec les activités de cet age là,

It's tricky to post photo's from cute little children...from what i have heard. Maybe there are to many of them on TE? I have one, but still not brave enough to post it ;-)
What do you think, the boy is there for us tourists? When i was in India i never seen different then playing cute and posing for an image and getting some rupees. But despite of all that, i like this photo a lot. Maybe because he is not smiling, the way he helds his little hands, the red color, it all fitts perfectly...i like it a lot.
Seeing your lens (i have the same one) i have the idea the difference between the 85m/m is huge, the clairty, brightness and overall sharpness is from a complete different league. And although this one is just a small version, in a large print the difference must be awesome...

Great portrait Andre! The tones are so nice, tender in a way that suits the picture and its character very well. The black eyes of the kid are indeed very beautiful. I like the way you caught him playing with that little something. It really boosts the innocence of this one. Very good.

Bonjour, André. Il n'y a pas à dire, il est superbe. Son regard qui vise l'objactif sans sourciller est désarmant. Le rouge de son gilet et de son turban qui a l'air bien trop grand pour lui se marient remarquablement avec son teint et avec les briques de l'arrière-plan. J'aime aussi beaucoup le détail de qu'il tient en main, qu'il vient de rompre et qu'il s'apprêtait sans doute à mettre en bouche, preuv qu'il a arrêté ses activités pour fixer l'objactif.

Très mignon ce petit bonhomme avec son (trop) grand turban! ;o)
Le moins qu'on puisse dire c'est qu'il n'était pas vraiment impressionné par ton gros zoom et qu'il te regardait droit dans les yeux. J'aime bien aussi la position de ses mains (je ne sais pas ce qu'il tient au bout de ses doigts). Il y a une belle harmonie de couleurs et même l'arrière plan est assorti au reste. Bref, encore un beau portrait!

With that big turban, there were no other choice that made this vertical framing!
In fact, may be the turban is too big for the kid's size? It catch all the attention on the picture.
I like the pose with the hands holding something, and the fresh look of the boy to your camera.

This is an excellent portrait of a Maharaja. The composition, color, background & DOF, framing and sharpness are all excellent. Great tones and contrast also.
The subject's expression really draws one in. Like a sense of sadness, yet really not. Maybe more a sense of quiet majesty. Innocence and fraighlty when I look at it again. The boy's hands holding whatever he has really adds interest as does the turban which is much bigger than the boy's head.
A different view of the same subject: Quiet refection...
Great work.

Je ne l'avais pas vu ce 'bout de chou' (je dois dire qu'en ce moment j'ai pas mal de petits problèmes avec le computer, la connec.internet et les coupures d'électricité) et je dois dire qu'il est très attendrissant... J'aime bien ses petites mains repliées, son gros turban et son habit qui font de lui un Maharaja Junior comme l'indique le titre. Les couleurs sont superbes et j'ajoute cet excellent portrait dans mon thème 'more fav. pictures 1'.
