Photographer's Note

After preparing campsite, we earned a stroll around. In the month of March, Purulia was too hot this year. Till the sky was much blue than any place.

The beauty of Matha Range and Purulia also, lies in the trees around. During spring, Palash trees are most visible as these are the "Flame of the Forest".

I loved the composition and hence sharing it with all.

Palas
[Eng. Name : Butea Gum Tree]
[Sci. Name : Butea monosperma]

Also called the flame of the forest, this deciduous tree with a crooked trunk and bright orange-red flowers, gets up to 50 ft high, with stunning flower clusters. It loses its leaves as the flowers develop, January - March.

The bark exudes a red juice that dries to form the Butea gum. The gum contains leucocyanidin, tetramer, procyanidin, gallic acid and mucilaginous material.

The gum is a powerful astringent; it is given internally for diarrhea, dysentery, phthisis and hemorrhage of the stomach and bladder.
