Photographer's Note
The Gadia Lohar is the Lohar meaning ironsmith who travels on Gadia meaning bullock carts; they generally make and repair agricultural and household implements. The Gadia Lohar or blacksmiths using big and small bullock carts, called wan and tango, are supposed to have taken a pledge, after fighting shoulder to shoulder with Rana Pratap of Chittor, not to lead a settled life, sleep on a cot, draw water from wells, to use lamps or to visit the Chittorgarh fort. When the King Rana Pratap was won from the Moslem emperor Akbar, going out from the fort with a big number of blacksmiths, the actual Gadhias Lohar would have chosen nomadic life promising to themselves to not return to Chittorgarh if not to take back the fort and the residences with the whole glory and the luxury of the past
