Photographer's Note
Paul had an interest in my old India photos. I was twice in India - in the south in 2004 and later in November 2009. There are here quite many photos showing Charminar - the iconic place of Hyderabad. I was interested mainly in the Golkonda fortress.
Here is an interesting imho the temple Sri Jagadamba.
Sri Jagadamba Mahakali Temple looks like a cave temple in certain aspects. The 300 stairs or steps that lead to this temple is decorated with vermillion and yellow marks by the devotees who visit every day with a lot of commitment and dedication. It is to be highly noted that two fierce gatekeepers with long whips directly welcome the devotees to the temple. It is strongly believed to be more than 900 years old.
It was March and in the interior of India, it was too hot for the Western visitors. I remember that I couldn't go on these steps because they were so hot and I would burn my bare feet. Here and in the Workshop, you can see the goddess Durga.
She is Mother Goddess; Goddess of Preservation, Power, Energy, Strength and Protection. Usually, she is riding a tiger or lion. She has eight hands and she has in them weapons: hakra (discus), Shankha (conch shell), Trishula (Trident), Gada (mace), Bow and Arrow, Khanda (sword) and Shield, Ghanta (bell). Another view of this small rock temple in Workshop 2.

Hello Malgo,
This is obviously not from your latest trip, but it usually pays to dig through your archives. These photos are very good, the WS for the fine close views of the paintings, the main photo for a wider view of a part of the rock temple complex. In all three photos the colours are remarkably good.
I was sorry for missing Golkonda. I was quite sick for a few days in Hyderabad. When I was better I had to proceed south before time was running out. Of course you are never sick.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Malgo,
I've never been in Golkonda. Actually, I didn't know this place before I discovered your photos. (I had already heard of Hyderabad of course)
The combination of giant boulders and a temple makes me think of Hampi in Karnataka.
Seeing your three photos here, I'm sure I would have loved to visit this temple.
The vivid colours of the paintings and the entrance building in the grey rock environment provide stunning sights.
Splendid series of this small and I think lesser known temple.
I think it was well worth climbing the 300 stairs.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Malgo,
This temple is different, with those huge rocks perched at the top of the stairs. Like many sites in India, there are colorful works of art, a bit cartoon-like but very eye-catching. While I was reading your note, I thought for a moment that the men with whips were real; then I noticed the paintings! :-) Take care!

Hello Malgo,
You chose a good low viewpoint to show the temple and the huge rocks on top of it. The colours are very appealing and well-saturated. The touch of green added by the tree goes really well together with the many more yellow and orange parts.

Ciao Malgo,a nice memory from one of your travels in India, a curious and very kitch temple as often happens in places like these, with simple and childish paintings. Great photos, explanatory as always, I'm sorry for you that it was hot beyond the limits, and with these climates a relaxing beach would have been better .. ahaha ... Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Malgo,
A good upward pov on the balancing rock that resembles a face with large ears. I wonder what the 30 signifies? Good colour and sharpness. Tfs!

Hello MALgo,
Ha!ha!ha! we both had a little break on TE. Sometimes it's good to break the 'Addiction' the TE has.
I love to go to India one day but I'm afraid the culture shock in term of hygienic conditions.
Anyway, this is a very interesting temple. I do find Indian's Temple is very fascinating.
This big rock above is like a small elephant with big ears. Elephant is also consider sacred animal like the Lord Ganesh. So many 'mind blowing' God or Goddess paintings to devote to.
I love the goddess Durga in WS1. Goddess with eight hands and the weapons for different purposes I guess.
I think it was worth climbing up the 300 steps even you burnt your bare-feet :-)
Tfs,
Loong
P/S: The red riders were indeed LADIES. I met them face to face and we said 'hello'.

Bylam niedaleko Hyderabadu w zeszlym roku. W styczniu pogoda goraca i sloneczna, zupelnie inaczej niz pare dni wczesniej w Amritsarze czy Agrze.
Trzy bardzo ladne, przyciagajace wzrok zdjecia. Wspaniale kolory i mnostwo szczegolow, ktorym mozna sie dlugo przygladac.
Pozdrawiam raz jeszcze i zycze milego tygodnia.
