Photographer's Note
Atop Tiger Hill - a fabulous vantage point (albeit spoilt by the terrible visitor tower and mobile tower) for early morning sunrises across the Eastern Himalayas - often illuminating the Kangchendzonga peaks with brilliant hues.
Tiger Hill is a must visit for anyone visiting Darjeeling - about 45 minutes from town - and is the summit of the town of Ghoom which also is a focal point of the UNESCO world heritage Darjeeling Himalayan Railways. We woke up at 4 am to get to this place. The vistas include views of 4 countries including views of Bhutan in the distance (straight on), Bangladesh 90 degrees to the right, Nepal 270 degrees to the left (and on a clear day - Mt. Everest is visible!!) as well as the towering Kangchendzonga peaks to the left of the picture (which I'll be including in another post in the coming days for sure!).
(This picture was the first that I had uploaded on TE, however, the version contained a watermark which I later got to know was against TE terms, and was hence taken down - so here is the pic again :) )
