Photographer's Note
Srinagar is famous for its houseboats on Dal lake, of very characteristic architecture and often in sandal wood
They cohabitate with the shikaras, a type of wooden boats of varied sizes and used for multiple purposes, including transportation of people. Drivers use oars having a unique spade-shaped bottom to row the shikara. Like the Venetian gondolas, they are a cultural symbol of Kashmir. Some shikaras are still used for fishing, harvesting aquatic vegetation (usually for fodder), and transport in the deeper parts of Dal Lake, while most are covered with tarpaulins and are used by tourists. Some are used as floating homes by poor people. Some others are used by merchants who moor to the houseboats and sell to tourists their flowers and handicrafts

Another interesting shot from this wonderful place Patrick. I really shall have to make a plan and visit the Lake one day. What a clever POV with both boat and stairs placed on the diagonal. The design elements of both the fret-worked wood and the boat packed with colourful blooms are super and so exotic looking. I hope you purchased a bunch of flowers! Warm regards Rosemary

like the inverse "V" shape composition here by the multicolored flowers caring boat & the stairs...the boat man going through the upstairs add a fine touch for this composition...nice POV...

a similar perspective to the earlier image on dal lake, although I prefer the other, this works really well too, the boat and the stairs taking the two diagonals.

Salut Patrick!

Ciao dear Patrick,
fantastic and genial POV, a picture composed in a curious way, but surely creative. The quality is superb, especially the perfect sharpness and the vividness of the colors. Very important is the presence of the man that enriches the image. Excellent work, BRAVO!
Ciao, have a nice Friday!

oh i love the lines, taking me back to the surreal experience of spending nights in the houseboat, the water gently lashing against the support under the boat gives a very unearthly feel when your head hits the pillow, isnt it ?
