Photographer's Note
inspired by the discussion I had with Sohrab on my last post i am posting this one as a second photo..
It does not relate with the subject we were discussing about , but again this is one kind of showing the life what they live after being migrated... a tricky one may be but the real situation is that they dont have any other good job than this.. the building which is going on is a 9 storied building and we ( mysele and Arindam ) were in the top...
he is climbing up all the way from the ground floor with this kind of heavy bags of sand and other things.. quite a physically heavy job but at the end of the day they dont get even less that 60 rupees.. (1.25 USD )...

this is a very good one.. and even better than your previous post..
also it will be a beautiful part of a story on these migrants..
there is a very famous bangladeshi photographer called shahidul alam who has also worked on migrants.. you could do a search on him.. he's not only a good photographer but an outstanding writer and orator.. he's also a social activist...
take care :)

Having Sohrab as a mentor will make you a killer photog. I already like your work Sandip. There is a lot of power and contemplation in it. Very sensitive stuff and alays relevant. Superb tones and light, very photojournalisic feel.

This one is VERY good, Sandip, I would say more successful, more unassailable than the last one. Excellent compo here with the descending staircase and the great B/W tones.
Very mature work, my friend.
Bravo,
Francis

Great everyday life shot. Perfect exposure with full detail and shadows, strong compo, good balance (sorry, no pun intended).
And I can only feel sorry for those hard-working guys, whose labor is terribly underpaid.

Hi,
I've just commented out Arindam's shot ;o)
This is one great. I like how the light come upward and how the sillhouette stand out.
Good point of view from these stairs emphasizing the hard work of those migrants.

A nicely lit and framed image Sandip - the work of building site workers in India never ceases to amaze me - often such hard and dangerous work - I guess even more so for migrant workers as in so many cases.
A very well presented image.
best wishes Kev

Hi sandip
To start with I changed my profile too after reading what you wrote in your intro
Thank you for that it’s a new experience and a great pleasure to look at pictures again
For this one constructive comment is tough,
I like it for the graphics the declining stairs and for the colors the play with black and white
The man in the lower part( white) the man on top black
Of course the note is not making any body happy

Wonderful shot, Sandip. The depth, the dark and light, the column right in the middle, all are superbly seen and captured. I prefer this to yesterday's one, although that one is gripping too. What you say about the heavy work and exploitation of these migrants is painful even to read. All for 60 rupees... what utter injustice... Dickens is a fairy tale in comparison!
Very good shot, and am looking forward to your sombering, sad, interesting series.

Great documentary shot, interesting little series that you and Arindam are running here. Real TE stuff.
The light is softly suffused making the B&W tones great.

sandip I hope you won't get angry if I say that is almost very well composed. There's a very good idea behind that : I like the way you've chosen to organize the background and the general light/shadow play into the frame, a good point is also about the idea of the two workers going down... but why clicking at the moment the one who's further away is overlapping with vertical tube?
For me that detail ruins your effect : I would like him either closer or just when he turns around the stairs 1/2 sec. later. Really a pity because otherwise it would have been great thanks to, once again, the very geometrical background.

very good image Sandip, the scene is good - very natural. i like the mood of this scene. but a second later the compo would be cleaner - the guy would not be obscured by that pole. and imagine how the image would be if there was someone's foot on that stairs in the top left corner... still good stuff
