Hussain sagar is a necklace-shaped lake in Hyderabad built in 1575 by sultan Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah, and named after Hussain Shah Wali. It is spread across an area of 5.7 square kilometers and is fed by river Musi. It also separates Hyderabad from its twin city Secunderabad. The maximum depth of the lake is about 9,75 m. It is a sprawling artificial lake that holds water perennially. The lake was originally constructed to supply drinking water but it is not used as a water source since 1930. Source : wiki
