Photographer's Note
Taken in the evening arati -ceremony- at the banks of the sacred river Ganges. In the holy city of Rishikesh.
Arati is a fire offering ceremony with prayers, mantras, etc.. The hindus do for thank the deity or in this case, Ganga, the female deity of the river Ganges, the one who flows from the head of Shiva, and purifies all the souls and places that this holy water touches.
Then hindus often take bath in the Ganga, for purify his karma, they pray, burn inscens, they meditate in the banks and ghats of ganga.
Really this river, is like a home for them, where most of activities of sorrounding people, are based on the Ganges. Birth and Death, are set in the hands of the flows of Ganga.

Great shot David.. I love the colors in this one. Very nice. Well framed as well.
By the way, I am leaving for India next week, if you have any infos about Rishikesh, Gaumuk i would be gald to get some. i will follow the ganga down to Calcutta.

David, it a very colorful picture, I like their faces expressions. You choose a perfect light to shot this. I would have preferred if the background was a little blurry, but it's a minor comment. Well done

Nice colours and interesting faces. I really like the inclusion of the top knot on the head, and the praying hands at hte top. both very suitable items for the context.

This is lovely. Very nice expressions a good crop and excellent soft/warm lighting. I also like that although you must have been quite close to them, their attention is somewhere else. Their skin seems so light, almost like they are from the west. Good shot.

Beautiful skin tone and wonderful rich colour in the robes. I love that they gaze so intently in the same direction. Your angle is interesting too. It's a beautiful shot. Well done.

i think this photograph is brilliant not coz of the quality( which is very good)
but because youve caught the subjects when they let their guards down.it's even more commendable as you are a foreigner.anybody can be a good photographer,but a great photographer is one who has a lot of patience . he should e patient enough to let the soul of the subject come onto the faces.this is what steve mccurry also thinks. i feel that you have the patience . nice work

Una foto molt bona, full of colors, com diuen molt per aqui. T'he possat un petit WS per distreurem una mica avui, en el dia de l'aniversari del teu pare i meu. Nomes una petita nota, si els dos monjos miren cap a la dreta, falta espai a la dreta perque tu puguis seguir la seva mirada. Una abraηada.

There are already many positive comments about this shot as it is amazing. I like the repetitive pattern of the monks here and the compo / light / colors are all just amazing. I'm also glad that none of these guys noticed you were taking a picture. Really well done!

these colors combined to this close-up with the novices make a wonderful shot:-) I love this portrait! Sur celle-ci j'apprιcie la lumiθre latιrale qui ιclaire le visage de ces jeunes moines, cela donne une image en trois dimensions.
Trθs belles couleurs parfaitement saturιes.
Not many of photographs published on TE, but your collection is brilliant. On this one I appreciate the side light which lights the face of these young monks, that gives an image in three dimensions. Very beautiful perfectly saturated colors.
