Photographer's Note
A photograph of the famous Nanda Devi peak at sunset. This was taken on the same day as my previous sunset shot.
The summit, at 7816 meters, is the 23rd highest peak in the world and the highest peak entirely in India. The face visible here leads to the western peak, to which the twin Nanda Devi East (7434m) is connected by a ridge behind. The massif rises over 3.3 km above the surrounding glaciers, making it comparable to K2 in terms of steepness. Perhaps more importantly, the mountain is surrounded by a steep rim of peaks, effectively isolating the 'sanctuary' from people. In the 1930s, an English team took the dangerous route along the Rishi Ganga gorge, reaching the glaciers that drain the basin of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary.
The smaller peak in the shadowed foreground is the top of Auli Bugyal, a popular ski resort in the Himalayas.
Sorry if the image is a bit soft and noisy. I stupidly kept the ISO at 320 after a portrait shoot...

Hello Biswaroop,
This is an astonishingly beautiful shot of the Nanda Devi. I cannot believe that a mountain soaring to 7815 m can be only the 23rd highest peak. Evocative of a canine tooth, it is so very steep, virtually vertical in one area. Did you shoot in RAW mode, or jpg? In the former, you may have recovered some of the information.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Just an amazing shot here of this beautiful and forbidding peak. The fading light of the sunset is really nicely captured by you, and the different shades of blue on the mountains in the foreground make for just a wonderful setting. Very nicely done.

Hi Biswaroop, I don't think you need to feel low on the high ISO. The shot in itself is excellent and beautifully composed. Perfect for the sacred mountain.

Hello Biswaroop,
The light on the peak at sunset and the warm tones as its result while the rest of the mountain scenery is in the shadow make this picture absolutely wonderful.
I also like the inclusion of the silhouette of that mountain on the foreground so that we get several layers of mountains on the picture.
Best regards, Paul
