Photographer's Note
Thought I'd take a quick break from Malta and Paris, go back to India once again.
As we were walking around the Ghats and Ganges River at Varanasi early one morning, I noticed this child all by herself. I think its a girl, but i'm not sure.
She was just sitting here by herself, no parent seemed to be close by. Perhaps they were, but just out of sight.
She sat here and was playing with anything she could find on the ground. The yellow walls and large orange sunshade sitting on its side provided an excellent backdrop.
When you see children like this on your travels, you can't help but appreciate what we have and feel somewhat guilty too. The world can be a difficult place, its just not fair is it.
Hope you like this shot, and lets all have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Hello Craig,
Beautiful composition, this yellow and orange wall is am excellent background, an the kids garment on the left match it . The kid looks like gypsy. She probably is used to play all alone. And you are right. After seeing such sights you appreciate how you live, maybe some Western children should see it too.
SAFE weekend, it is what we all need.
Lovely picture.

Hello Craig,
I have to say 'eye-catching'!
The brightness of the b/g is immediately attractive but when you see the small child, arms and hand outstretched, everything else pales into insignificance! This could be an advert to the world, peacefully asking for support from richer countries! There is no aggression, no pleading. It is just a beautiful shot.
Such a strong shot!
Thanks for sharing this,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig,
Life is very unfair on the whole depending on where you are born and live. Excellent capture of this little street urchin who has perhaps been taught to beg by her absent parents. She stands out perfectly against the colourful backdrop. All the best to you and yours for the weekend.

Hello Craig,
Reading the sentimental note, made me think what do we know about this girl? what she was doing all by herself out on the street... but, on my second review of the pic., noticed she has a braclet on her hand, probably an identification mean's.
Fine spotted and really the orange parasol provide a great BG.

Ike

Hi Craig
Powerful photo and add you say , it does ask us to examine our appreciation of what we have and to look harder at the world around us, but this is perfectly balanced worth the sense of happiness in the child's expression. That backdrop is just perfect, a studio set up couldn't be more perfect .
it has for me a very timeless appeal and is a very opportune photo, really nicely done.
Cheers from Ireland , first snow in Ireland due tomorrow, woohoo !

Hi Craig,
This is a far cry from a few years ago when the only photographs we saw from you were images of modern architecture! Your photographs of people in their environment are another genre altogether and I think are even more inspiring! What could be more appealing than the happy smile of this little girl sitting with her arm outstretched toward something which has grasped her attention as she sits in her humble clothing against a backdrop of a bright yellow wall and orange sunshade?
A delightful and very well composed and taken photograph with fabulous colours, excellent details and sharpness and bucketloads of appeal.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Craig,
For some strange reason I have long been much more attracted by your photos from India than by those from Malta. It could have something to do with your obvious fascination with Indian people and the amazing colours. This is so simple but so very eye-catching and charming. I definitely find young children more attractive than old cars ;-).
Best wishes,
Gert

Hello Craig
Great minds perhaps thinking alike (if you have a glance at my latest posting, you'll see what I mean). Despite your comments, she looks happy enough, though I entirely endorse your sentiments about inequity. The lad in my photo lived in a village that was receiving international aid in the form of a road-building project... Love your image BTW.

Hello Craig
A charming portrait of this little girl indeed. Despite her apparent poverty, she seems so full of joy of life. I just wonder what caught her attention here, was it Mummy maybe that was to her right?

Hello Craig,
The little girl is attractively placed in front of the bright orange canvas.
Her smile and her outstretched arm make it a very sympathetic photograph.
Although we will never know if this is a street child and has to take care to survive.
In any case, a realistic street scene in an Indian city.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Craig
I'm not surprised your thoughts keep going back to India. Asia is not only very photogenic but also irresistible in so many other ways!
Beautiful photo accompanied by sobering thoughts. I'll soon be posting images like this from Burma...
Great colours and composition.
Have a nice Sunday

Ciao Craig
Oh what a wee cutie. Such a sweet, innocent smile for the world, but she's already no doubt seen cruel the world can be. This makes me so sad and yet also makes me smile. Beautiful rich orange and yellow tones t o contrast with the wee bubba.
Cheers and thanks for sharing

Hi Craig
Perfect portrait in situation well enhanced by the orange background. I see that you are now proposing human pictures instead of buildings and landscape, we are over 7 billion persons, so a lot of opportunities!
