Auto Rickshaws are very popular mode of transportation in India. They are cheap as compared to Taxi and can make way easily in congested city roads.

In this part of India(North India), these auto-rickshaw driver don't go by meter. Instead they prefer to make a deal by fixing fare before the start of journey. Only people who know the city well should force them to go by meter, because they are very smart people and if they come to know that you have no knowledge about the city they ll make u travel by larger route to get more money. Bargaining is the best option in the case u r new to the city.
