Photographer's Note

Hi Everybody,

I got this shot in the busy and narrow lanes in South Delhi. The man is just outside balcony of the Second Floor of the building with no safety belts and zero safety. His only tools are his left hand to hold on to the grill and a brush to paint.

This is the very busy time of the year when almost all the people in India do whitewashing(Painting) the whole building to give a fresh look to them. Its the time of Diwali, the famous festival in India when crackers and lights rules the night. Before diwali the houses are cleaned, painted thoroughly. With sweets and new clothes its is celebrated.

This painter also has a family and he also needs to celebrate diwali and he will definitely do it. But to get new clothes and sweets for his family he needs to work hard and travel back almost 500 miles from Delhi to some remotest Village to his loved ones.

In India this is a very common and mundane scene. We can see almost all of the daily wage workers working in this highly risky conditions for only a meagre amount of money. Almost all of them are not lucky to evade the risks and return home saftely.

I hope you enjoy and appreciate my efforts.

Regards
Tushar
