Photographer's Note
Chhath, also called
Dala Chhath, is an ancient Hindu
festival dedicated to Surya, the
Hindu Sun God, Surya, also
known as Surya Shashti. The
Chhath Puja is performed in
order to thank Surya for
sustaining life on earth and to
request the granting of certain
wishes. The Sun, considered the
god of energy and of the life-
force, is worshiped during the
Chhath fesival to promote well-
being,prosperity and progress.
In Hindu mythology, Sun worship
is believed to help cure a variety
of diseases, including leprosy,
and helps ensure the longevity
and prosperity of family
members, friends, and elders.
The rituals of the festival are
rigorous and are observed over
a period of four days. They
include holy bathing, fasting and
abstaining from drinking water
(Vratta), standing in water for
long periods of time, and offering
prashad (prayer offerings) and
aragh to the setting and rising
sun.
In this frame you can see some devotees in the sacred river Ganges. After the holy deep one of them is prayering something to the god 'Sun'. I like this colourful frame for the arrangement of colours. Hope you'll enjoy it.

I enjoy this a lot for the rich colours and the moment that you have captured. I did wonder whether cropping the green fabric off the left might enhance this even further. However, an outstanding image.

Hello Subhendu,
A fine daily life composition captured at a special moment. I like the contrast between the vivid foreground colours against the hazy background. Sharpness is very good indeed.

the devotion's intensity is well expressed and told by yours frame. I would have a more preciser cut on the group of women. the presence of the colors orange and green, on the garments and the fruit, is an excellent chromatic effect. my compliments for this wonderful moment that you have shown to us.

A nicely composed and well presented scene of daily life. There are many details to study especially in the variety and colors of the foods for the festival. The womens expressions show they are very serious about the ritual. The clarity is excellent contrasting beautifully with the soft hazy background.

U 're going to fast, I have to catch up my friend! I admire that way you choose the high viewpoint and framing pointing downwards to the main focal whilst the beautiful slight hazy background is still well exposed and the contrast it makes is outstanding. The multi colored foreground and the ladies are simply gorgeous, the main show of this image. I like these characters unposed, they look so natural immerce in deep prayer and full on concentration. Well done my friend, Congrats.
