Photographer's Note
Recently I visited Puri, a religious city of Orissa, India on the coast of the Bay of Bengal. Puri is famous for the temple of Lord Jagannath (a form of Lord Krishna according to Hindu Mythology) and the Bay of Bengal.
I visited puri this time to snap moments - touchy, involving or saturated by history. I put some conditions for the play - involvement (direct or indirect) of the sea is necessary, no typical tourist shots, no personal connection with the subjects etc.
I snapped load of shots - mornings at Puri, noons at Konark, evenings at Puri again. Only 10% of all these I found can be exposed to the world. Others were tourist's shots, not a hobbyist's one.
This I got on the second day of my visit. The subjects of the shot - these two are unknown to me. Even I had not had any interaction with them. But this girl came into my frame suddenly and I started following him and his friend (brother may be) holding my cam. They were running towards south (to the Bhargavi River). Came back again. Their parents asked them to get off the sea. The girl agreed but the boy knew that he can stay in the sear only if the elderly girl stays with him .. ....
Only a stronger will power can make you win this fight ;)
I found Apu and Durga of 'Pather Panchali' [The Song of the Road] by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay [Bengali movie on this novel was directed by famous director Satyajit Ray] in them.
More about Puri is available here.

superb catch. just love the silhouettes here. the gloomy sky giving a melancholy tone to the sunset.
the title is perfect for this shot. but, i wonder how many will be able to appreciate this. for them, a small info: the movie CD's and DVD's are now available, a gem for your collection of movies. This year is celebrated as the 50th anniversary of this all-time classic, a landmark in Indian cinema.
More info on the Satyajit Ray classic can be found here.

Hi Kausik,
The dark part on the foreground give a very nice contrast to the sea, and the two children excellent added, but Kausik, a pity a rotation to righthand to level the horizon.
Best regards,
John.

You certainly found Apu and Durga here. Very nice composition. Here is another Apu missing Durga - the most disciplined which is very unlikely.

subho dipabali kaushik,
the photo is unique with the caption. to me the note was not required, the frame is enough to speak all. any way all the viewers are not bongo.
best wishes
