Guizhou is one of China's poorest provinces, one with many minorities, but - as the locals say - without one straight piece of road.
When we passed through it, in most simple restaurants it wasn't always easy to find (good) meat. Not a real problem for part-time vegetarians like us, but it does say a lot about poor, poor Guizhou.
This picture is not an ordinary scene. This was part of the preparations for the funeral of a local dignitary. Later there were fireworks and explosions and a loud parade through the streets!

Happy and a little pity but unique portrait/animal shot. His closed eye has a little pathos, but this is a quite usual secne in Asia. Thanks for your sharing with fine work, have a good sacred holiday and best regards,

interesting scene indeed, and a nice photo. China is not only about skyscrapers, luckily communism and capitalism could not entirely wipe out the old traditions.

Hi Benny,
Beautiful analogue! I always say I will shoot film again one day, but become lazy with the ease of digital (and improving qualities of it). But this really has depth and 'information' in the image that is something else. Great scene and cultural moment..digging through archives as you can see - great stuff.
