Photographer's Note
This photo was taken in the 'Amazing Birds Theatre' at Ocean Park.
The bird handler walked around the audience showing us this beautiful owl, but the owl seemed more interested by something high up in the trees - maybe his next meal!
The green background is artificial grass.
Tech: Cropped 800x600 from original photo, increased saturation +14 and added a black border.

There is something very interesting about your composition and subject, and at the same time, something is not adding up, maybe the fact that this beautiful animal we could imagine in the wild is held by a handler in an attraction park, which trivializes it. Not sure.
I think one or 2 TE shots a week should be selected for in-depth discussion, what works, what does not, and we could all benefit from reading what others have to say, beyond the usual summary critiques. Your shot here would fit in this type of discussion. IMO

Oh - this shot gives me some memories and reminds me as well - for about 14 days ago did I spot a dead bird at the road side - its seems to be in good condition (what ever) and I turned around and got it with me home - It's an Owl and now its my freezer waiting to be stuffed. Better get it done soon.
A fine tight composition - I like the golden eye's and the attention the shows - thanks Andrew for one more great bird shot.

"Grande image", this is very pleasant to see.
Contact in between the man and animal is brought by the eyes placed in and the choice to have it tight to the subject is excellent.
Well built and great quality.

Well done with the tight framing for this one, Andrew - not least does it lend a fair amount of attention to the beautiful bird with the gleaming eye. I would wish to see a tad more texture in the bird's plumage, but it's a very minor nit on this pleasant and colorful shot. Nice to see a new one coming from you, well done.
Also, a double dip for the song title and movie title themes.

The color of the eye is hypnotizing and catches the viewer eye. It makes a nice combination with the green background.
The crop is excellent and very clever. A very good shot, Andrew.

Very nice Andrew, excellent background with the beautiful green. Nicely cropped with the man's face in this position, the bird's look is fantastic, well done.

Amazing composition, Andrew, with focus on the reflection in the golden eye. I like your tight crop, which is compressing the 'inter-action' - also accentuated by the 'clean' green background - between the bird handler and the bird. The colors go well together - especially the green and the yellow - and there's a lovely diagonal in the shot. Very well done!

Nice shot Andrew,
The eyes are truly amazing. Like the biggest marbles I've ever seen. With a beak like that, I sure wouldn't want him eyeing me up...
Cheers,
- Dan
