Photographer's Note
This photo was taken today at Ocean Park in the 'Amazing Amazon' section.
I had just taken a photo of a duck and was photographing its information board, when this dragonfly landed right on the board.
I zoomed in a little more and was incredibly lucky to get my first insect macro shot!
Ocean Park is an educational theme park situated on the southern side of Hong Kong Island.
The Park is built on both sides of a mountain and is spread over an area of 870,000 square metres.
A cable car system serves as a link for over 40 attractions and rides, between the lowland and headland.
Ocean Park has been operating for 27 years and over 3 million people visit each year.

Lucky shot indeed Andrew. Good details for a macro shot, I like how we can see the details in the wings. I am not a big fan of insect shots (dont really care for bugs!!!), but I can appreciate the quality of this photo.

Hi Andrew, my compliments for you first macro shot, I find this very nice, the difficult for make of a macro is the sharpness, the wings on the right side are perfect but the left side is somewhat blur, but Andrew the second become much better.

Well Andrew,
I have bin some time on treknature, and I know some from macro's, I started also with my Olympus for my first macro of an insect. And with you 730 you have a good camera for macro's I love dragonflies, I like it very much to take the shot so close they let me come. See it as a job to try to come short on let say 6 cm ore something like that. And than click, click and yes you had a shot full with details. Congratiolation with your first macro of an insect. I know it can much better, but I like it when somebody made his first. Good job

Not bad at all Andrew shooting this "by accident". The anatomical details, particularly the dragonfly's wings, are really well rendered, and the wooden piece it sits on makes a great background ... and a good diagonal device for the compo. Well captured.

Merci.

Beautiful close up of the dragonfly, Andrew! Quite lucky to have it after the duck indeed! :-) Love the strong diagonal you created here, as well as the excellent sharpness of the textures. Fine colours and very well managed light too. Excellent capture!

Excellent maco, Andrew. Not only sharp and well captured, but also very well composed with the diagonal lines and the dark area at the top. Very well done.

I must say, Andrew, for a first 'accidental' macro shot you were quite lucky. Amazing colors and sharpness - especially the red tail and the green 'eyes' and the wings are well rendered. Nice diagonal composition of the board frame and the dragonfly a bit off-centered, but completely in the frame. On an area of 870,000 square meters you found your object on 25 square centimeters. Nice reaction, good job and well done!

A nice view of this dragonfly - have never seen this kind around here - but may be on TE - Interesting texture of that stone as well - it looks wood (but perhaps it is :-)
Thanks Andrew for taking us to this very popular seight.
