Photographer's Note

On a trip to Shanghai, i took this picture of the Jin Mao tower. taken from the bund.

Here is a few facts on this impressive building.

The tower has an observatory (with a floor space of 1,520 square metres) on the 88th floor, at a height of 340.1 metres. It is the largest and highest observation deck in China. The building's shape draws on traditional Chinese forms, especially the tiered pagoda.
The tower is designed to withstand an earthquake of 6 on the Richter scale and the strongest level of typhoon.
Designed by Adrian D. Smith, FAIA, RIBA Design Partner at Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP.
Currently the tallest building in the People's Republic of China (replacing CITIC Plaza), and the fifth tallest in the world.
