Who will miss this place when visiting Cambodia? I am sure there are plenty of shots taken of this place but I am also sure that each one will be different. The main structure may not change but the POV, atmosphere and lighting will. I always enjoy viewing this icon through all the various lenses by different people.
This shot was taken as I entered the outer gate looking towards Angkor Wat temple.
From Siem Reap Angkor Visitors guide;
Angkor Wat is a massive three-tiered pyramid crowned by five lotus-like towers rising 65 meters from ground level and is the centerpiece of any visit to the temples of Angkor.
Angkor Wat is surrounded by a moat and an exterior wall measuring 1300 m x 1500m. The temple itself is 1km square and consists of three levels surmounted by a central tower. The walls of the temple are covered inside out with bas-reliefs and carvings. Nearly 2000 distinctively rendered aspara carvings adorn the walls throughout the temple and represent some of the finest examples of aspara carvings in Angkorian era art. But it is the exterior walls of the lower level that display the most extraordinary bas-reliefs, depicting stories and characters from Hindu mythology and the historical wars of Suryavarman II.
To get the best visual impact you should visit this place after 2.00p.m. as in the morning the back lighting will obscure most of the beautiful details.

Hi Aloysius,
"who will miss..." : Me!... I have been twenty times in Cambodia, but never been there! and I don't want to go... because of the zillions of tourists! I dislike being in the middle of such artificial crowds... but of course it is a magnificent site, no questions about that.
Anyhow, you found an original framing through the wooden structure and the entrance way, leading our eye to the famed Angkor Wat...

very nice the chosen scene from the interior of the corridor and using the wooden frame to see the transcendent Angkor Wat.I like the beauty of the place as remind me my visit there four yers ago.

Your photo really gives an idea of how it is really like:)! It reminds me of the Taj Mahal, with all those tourists around.

I think an already stunning shot here could be improved by using levels, to get the correct exposure on the slightly oe bg. I could try a workshop if you like? Nice use of the fg arch to frame these iconic Cambodian temples. Tfs!

Nice shot and equally interesting notes, this is the place i skipped although i have been to Cambodia twice for obvious reasons, too touristy! just like any other popular destinations, i will try to avoid as far as possible, This is just my personal opinion.
Your pov is good and creative as the view offers great depth and good natural framing within the limited space and inviting the eye to the main attraction. Pin sharp, fine clarity, coloring and some exquisite work done here particulaly, I love the fine textured pavement and design in the foreground with wonderful shadows contrasting well against the general scene. A pleasing image, well taken, Congrats.
