Photographer's Note
Ta Prohm was built by the last great king of the Khmer empire, Jayavarman VII as a monastery and Buddhist university. The interlaced roots and walls makes it certainly one of the most photogenic and photographed temples in Angkor. Contrary to other temples, it was left in a state close to its re-discovery. This was chosen to this purpose by the Ecole franηaise d'Extreme Orient as a "concession to the general taste for the picturesque." A lot of work has nevertheless been necessary to stabilize the ruins and its access.
It is not really easy to photograph this temple - unless you're here at the best times of day -because of the high contrasts between the rather dark aisles of the temple and the very bright sky (especially if like me you had an overcast sky). That's why I went for a view which excluded the sky and a shift in black and white which I found was well adapted to the subject.

un bon choix d'avoir optι pour le n&b. L'ambiance est superbe et le graphisme de l'endroit me fait penser ΰ un dιcor de Lara Croft. Bien vu.

ce lieu mythique n'est jamais facile ΰ photographier. Soit il y a des chinois qui posent devant, soit il y a des contrastes ingιrables. Ce noir et blanc est trθs bien fait.

Bonjour,
Un ami qui a visitι ces memes ruines m avait fait decouvrir cet endroit par ses photos. La reprise des arbres sur les ruines est vraiment photogenique. Encore plus traitι en N&B avec les textures qui ressortent.
Malgrι l emploi d un zoom grand angle, je me sens un peu a l etroit, je voudrai en voir encore plus, notamment vers le haut. Peut etre qu un assemblage d images l aurait permis?

Great shot, it conveys a sense of great antiquity. Also, it is easy to imagine the roots as the tentacles of a huge octopus enveloping the building.

Hi Philippe,
We stood at the same spot, a magical place to play, but during the day to many tourists. But still you managed to produce a classic in a very nice b&w toning. I found these roots very impressive in how they have taken over the structure which you show very well in this photo....very good work.
