Photographer's Note

Mondulkiri, or Mondol Kiri, is Cambodia's rough wild east. Both climatically and culturally it is a world away from the rest of the country. It is sparsely populated and doesn't boast lots of ancient ruins nor too many modern comforts, but for us it was one of the highlights of our trip.

Sen Monorom, the main city in Mondulkiri (Mondol Kiri), is closer Dalat and the Vietnamese highlands than to the Cambodian capital. It's known for its plantations and for the Bunong people and their elephants.

This picture shows a local kid on his bike. It was shot from a small roadside restaurant in Sen Monorom.
