‘Bandar Seri Begawan - The mosque of the mangroves’

The name of this mosque is Masjid Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah.
Reallly!
Note for Beverley: No, I didn’t remember this name. I admit I looked it up again.

This mosque is located on the edge of Kampong Ayer. On one side the residents of the water village can use wooden walkways to go to the mosque. See WS. On the other side people can reach the mosque by car along a good street (not visible in my photos).

The banks of the Brunei River are often mangroves. That is why this mosque is sometimes called the mosque of the mangroves.

The construction started in August, 1995 and it was inaugurated in January 1999.
The mosque can accommodate a total of 1.500 worshipers.
