Photographer's Note
The Tall Ships' Races are races for sail training. The races are designed to encourage international friendship and training for young people in the art of sailing. The races are held annually in European waters and consists of two racing legs of several hundred nautical miles, and a "cruise in company" between the legs. Over one half of the crew of each ship participating in the races must consist of young people.
2009 Tall Ships΄ Baltic Race was arranged on route Gdynia (Poland) - St Petersburg (Russia) - Turku (Finland) - Klaipeda (Lithuania). Event in Turku gathered about half a million spectators.

Hi Kari, you really are getting the most out of this great lens. This photo is sharp, well composed, framed and saturated. There is a slight loss of definition in the shaded areas to the right but this is such a minor thing, it does not affect this excellent shot. Congrats, Lisa.

Hi Kari,
I'm really impressed with the effectiveness of your framing. In the FG you have the interested spectators, looking out at the two boats moving up the harbor, with the front oat framed against the white boat for maximum definition. All of the long rows of ships are captured with their full rigging against the perfect sky. The excitement/interest is palpable!!

It is impressive to see so many big ships concentrated in such a small area, you also had luck with the weather and could deliver a nice luminous image, turning it sepia could also look good

Awesome! Magnificent scene indeed! Meeting of such a lot of attractive tall ships is truly overwhelming. It's a surprise that one tenth of the population of Suomi gather to enjoy the event. Thanks for showing an old bell epoque.
