Photographer's Note
The pier at Southwold, Suffolk.
This was taken at dawn, just as a winter storm was clearing. Both I and the camera got very wet taking this, but I think it was worth it.
I haven't corrected for the lens distortion on the pier, as I think it suits the nature of the shot.
Thanks for looking.

I love the perspective and detail in this and the turbulence of the sea. The distortion works very well and the drama in the sky is excellent.

Hello Benjamin,
I love the POV. Beautiful sky and colors, but you could have corrected a little the perspective! The walls of the houses should be a little more parallels!
have a great day!

Hello Benjamin
dramatic, awesome are some of the words that pop up in my mind while looking at this composition. This ultra wide zoom is sometimes hard to manage but obviously you know how to use it skillfully.
Thanks for sharing

Benjamin,
Certainly an enjoyable shot. To my eye, everything eems to be hurtling away from me at great speed - and not just the water!

Hello Benjamin,
I think this image is about timing: time of the day, together with the timing on those threatening waves...great work here. Hope you and your camera are both doing well and keep shooting like this :-)

Hi Benjamin!
A very attractive photo and a dramatic atmosphere. I love the traces of the foam on the sand which leads to the sea.

Hello Benjamin,
Good POV and good choice of a long exposition to capture the movement of the water.

Fantastic shot, Benjamin. I like the effects caused by the wide angle lens. This picture thanks to the distortion and long exposure makes the impression that everything were in motion. Not only water and clouds, that naturally moves but also the pier looks like a train travelling. For that it helps that the poles on the left side appear as not vertical.
I like this and I think I will try more with this lens.

Hello Benjamin,
A picture which has an enormous sense of movement to it. Correcting the lens distortion would have diminished that effect, so you were right not to correct. It is so much more powerful as it is. Thanks.

Hi Benjamin,
This is a truly spectacular shot with a powerful sense of movement. The lens distortion makes the pier seem to buckle in the storm and I can almost feel my feet being dragged forward by the surf!
On the subject of contrails, I think they actually add to the sense of drama here, like exploding rockets in the sky.

I too think the lens distortion works here. It creates a real dynamic effect. I like the stones in the FG and the water movement leads the eye to the pier and sky.
