Not much to say about this one ...

With the Northern Hemisphere going in to winter, and more snow and ice shots appearing on TE, I thought I would post one from the S. hemisphere winter just past.

(San Carlos de) Bariloche is one of the major ski resorts in Argentina - also very popular in summer time with its lakeside location.

I'm afraid I am still not going to say any more about what you are looking at, but I am going to respond to the many requests for more information (in my usual roundabout fashion).

In the Jonathan Safran Foer book: "Extremely loud and incredibly close" there is a side plot to the main story revolving around a character who may or may not exist, and if they do they may or may not live on the observation deck of the Empire State Building in New York. Should the narrator go and check with his own eyes? Or are the mental constructs the narrator has build up in his imaginings of this caracter so beautiful that they are more important than a 'reality' that might actually be quite mundane?

We all travel with our own minds, our own thoughts and our own backgrounds (and on TE with our own cameras). I invite you to consider the possibility that what you see in my small scene may be far more important and relevant than what is in my small scene.

Hi Iain, Yup we are heading for the dreaded cold- clocks have turned back-(its dark before you can leave the office)- we have had our first frosts and the autumn colours are fading - so bring on the snow and the ice and those wonderful cold crisp days when the sun may break through the clouds and give us a ray of light and warmth.. ( pity it snows so seldom down south- but hey global warming does have its benefits..). Look forward to seeing the warm Southern Hemisphere photos ,,

Hello Iain.
Very cute colors. I am really looking forward to the winter now (Even though we had a bit snow two weeks ago)... It reminds me of my hike to Mt. Ulriken about a year ago. Clear ice with patterns. But the green leaves were not at Ulriken, and they fit perfect into the ice. Good composition. TFS.

There are many in your portfolio that fascinate me and this one is a favourite. I have viewed it a few times since I joined TE (only last week) because I keep being drawn to it. I think it is the colours and the swirly bits that have a calm mood about them despite their vibrancy. Very much a photographers picture.

Hello Iain,

I think you are the first Argentinian I meet on TE.
I like this artistic composition, very coloured with a blue color flashy, curves which make this shot graphical and consequently elegant. The leaf is well placed and gives the ideal contrast here.
I think you make all of us doubtful in front of this understood but nice shot. Personally, I think it's a leaf in a cold fountain. I win ? ;-)

a very beautiful and interesting image, something abstract and with a magical graphic mood. good colors.
I remember when I took a plane in bariloche (zero celsius)and arrived at the end of that day in Iguazu (40 celsius), of course I am alive because I stayed in Buenos aires for some hours , waiting my plane (around 20 celsius. haha)

An artist's picture...not just an artistic picture, but I guess it's a work of an artist!

I had a problem though...I wa not able to comprehendthe picture fully, except the leaf...initially!

You know Iain, while I love the beauty as presented in this shot, my not being able to appreciate this to the full due to non-understanding was bugging me (till I read your thread with FYZRMZ)! How is it that I was not able to understand what 34 other people have?
