Photographer's Note

I saw this woman reading a newspaper, comfortably resting in a curiously designed "chair" outside a Marimekko boutique in the centre of Helsinki. Later I noticed that every Marimekko shop in the city seemed to invite people passing by to take a rest in this kind of soft chairs.

The young woman sent me a quick glance when I aimed my camera at her, but she obviously didn't care and decided that her newspaper was more interesting.

Marimekko is a Finnish design and textile company founded in 1951. The characteristic patterns and colours have made Marimekko clothes popular all over the world. According to Wikipedia the company got its big international breakthrough when Jacqueline Kennedy was seen wearing Marimekko clothes.
