Photographer's Note

It΄s been two months since I deleted all my images here, mainly because a lot of long time members left that I became good friends with. I uploaded some images on flickr, but quickly realized that this community is just far too big for my taste, really nothing personal anymore. So after more than two months I decided to come back here, mainly because of the people on this site. I will of course not spend as much time here as I did before, but I΄m of course looking forward to seing all your nice images!

Cape de Formentor
Cap de Formentor is a spectacular bluff, located on the northernmost point of the Balaeric Island Majorca. Its highest point, Fumart, is 384m above sea level. It has many associated bays, including Cala Fiquera, Cala Murta and Cala Pi de la Posada.

The 13.5 km street which runs from Port de Pollenca to Cap de Formentor was built by the Italian engineer Antonio Paretti. His masterpiece on Majorca, however, was the snake to Sa Calobra. Instead of being overwhelmed by what stood in his way on the cliffs, Parretti observed the Tramuntana winds and understood: where the slope was too steep, he made a curve. When he had to remove part of the cliffs, he placed the waste in other places where it was needed. The result was the two streets, which like are nestled together in the mountains like abandoned silk ribbons.

Welcome back on TE ! Not a good idea to have deleted your pictures (I've done the same!) , but don't worry , take pleasure to share beautiful pictures . As this one . The vertical format works very well here .The light is outstanding , and superbly captured (with lightened and shady parts) .

Your photo really shows a wonderful scenery in a somehow solemn atmosphere. You have had gorgeous light conditions when taking this picture. The contrast between the sunlit parts and the foreground is stunning. A worth-seeing photo indeed!

I guess it is the first time i am writing to you. Found you via Isabela's critique, wanted to drop in some words of praise.
Firstly, i congratulate you for this beautiful landscape shot. The high POV, deep perspective, warm light and interesting color tones make it an attractive one. Second, i appreciate your decision for coming back to TE. It was difficult times indeed, seeing lots of friends leaving here. But it happens just as i had predicted (and told to Isa before), some friends are already showing up again. TE is a different community. It is compact compared to flickr par example, but this compactness makes that addictive "friendship" issue. Therefore it is difficult to leave. Yes, from time to time it becomes annoying, but...
Anyway, i guess you'll change your intro words as well.

Lieber Mark! Jetzt wollte ich Dich schon fast aus der Kartei werfen ... LOL ... aber irgendwie bin ich noch an meinen Favorites gehangen und siehe da, schon ist einer wieder zurueck. Das freut mich sehr. Wie es Deniz schreibt, genau so ist es eben, und ich habe schon ein paar Mal geschrieben, dass man Freunde nicht auf andere Websites transportieren kann, weil dort ein anderes Umfeld ist und die gleichen Freundschaften moeglicherweise nicht gleich mehr funktionieren. Nun aber zu Deinem Foto: Du hast das suedliche Sommerflair voll getroffen. Herrlich, man moechte am Liebsten abreisen, an die Sonne, auch wenn sie hier auch scheint so ist es doch nicht genau gleich. Guter Vordergrund, immer wieder wichtig, den vergesse ich oft.

Welcome back Mark! I see you haven't lost your touch! This is a beautiful shot with the last of the light and some gorgeous colours. I guess you did some layer masks and combined different exposures/convertions as the wide dynamic range is well managed. I particularly like the light on the rocks mid-ground. Wonderful image with many layers.

Hi Mark,
I'm not welcoming you back, you're competing with me, you make me feel insecure. Off course, I love that you're back. I looks a little into other sites, it's is way too broad. This is a little more on a personal level, you really feel like you know everyone so well.

Anyway, this is BEAUTIFUL. the setting is idealic and you have capture it and pp it just right to bring out it's colors and light, composition ig perfect to show the depth and demension of this landscape. Congrats Mark. Welcome back, I'll give a hug if I can.

I don't know you, I just came across this photo by chance... but whoever shot such a fine photo deserve my unconditioned admiration. I'm a seascape lover and a sea addicted person and this photo is one of the best I ever saw! Simply great.
