Photographer's Note

I am not a penguin
I am not a penguin
I am NOT a penguin, I am a blackbird and this weather is not right for me!

The other day I woke up to 3 cm of virgin snow! Looking out of the window I noticed a black little fellow, leaving desperate footprints behind in a useless search for food

Migrating birds are guided by the light and not by the temperature on the destination. Well I assume so. Or maybe they have some kind of biological clock, telling them when it is time to go North

This returning blackbird (Turdus merula) clearly isnt satisfied with conditions as they are, the ground is frozen and covered with snow and it is impossible to find a decent meal of worms!

As it is I learned that cheese is a fine replacement for worms, and now I have a colony of blackbirds in the nearest tree, all waiting for the next meal to be served

Workshop: Same bird different angle!

Another workshop: A hungry blackbird enjoying a slice of cheese!
